A Plan For Salvation
Maybe you didn’t even know you needed saving by God, but you probably know your life isn’t as fulfilling as you would like it. You figure you are as good as the next person. That would be fine if God were comparing you with someone else to see if you deserve Heaven, but He’s not.
God says that in order to get into His perfect Heaven, you don’t just have to be as good as someone else; you must be holy and perfect.
Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:48)
Without holiness no one will see the Lord. (Hebrews 12:14)
“Whoa,” you say. “That’s impossible. No one is perfect.” Right you are…
If you are honest you will have to admit that you have broken God’s laws and not lived up to what He requires. You have lied to someone, you have taken something that wasn’t yours, you have sworn using God’s name, or you have dishonored your parents. This makes you a sinner, unworthy of Heaven in the future, and out of sync with God in your life now.
There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)
The point of Jesus being born on this earth, living a perfect life, dying on a cross, and coming back to life again was so that He could take God’s punishment on sin for us. He didn’t deserve any punishment for anything He did, but He died so that sin could be paid for and God could offer us new life by having our sins forgiven.
For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. (1 Peter 3:18)
Did you catch that? He was the righteous One who died in the place of the unrighteous (us) in order that we could be right with God again.
So what does He require of you in order for Him to change your life now and take you to Heaven when you die?
1. That you agree with Him that you have chosen your way over His way and deserve Hell.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
We all, like sheep, have gone astray; each of us has turned to his own way. (Isaiah 53:6)
2. That you stop trusting yourself and what you can do with your life and put your trust in Jesus to
forgive you, change you, and save you.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
3. That you talk to God about your new perspective about your sin, your desire to be forgiven, and your belief that He is the only source of that forgiveness.
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9-10)
